About An Hao

The An Hao Natural Health Care Clinic was established in 1988 and moved to its current location in 1991. It is an integrated natural therapies clinic offering traditional Chinese medicine (TCM: including acupuncture and Chinese herbs); naturopathic medicine (modern diagnostics, numerous types of supplements); chiropractic medicine; and massage. The clinic is managed by the Institute for Traditional Medicine (ITM), a non-profit organization which is dedicated to keeping traditional medicine alive.

An Hao clinic has an unwavering ambition: to create an environment that promotes healing on all levels-physical, mental, and spiritual. We do this by providing exceptional health care within a peaceful space, and by striving for the highest good in all situations.

Our staff includes several licensed health care providers (see individual practitioner bios for details) and a medical assistant (Susan Sloan) plus our team of skilled receptionists (Pam Noyes, Carlyn, and Zach, all of whom can help you with insurance billing if your insurer covers our services). In addition, a resident trained in naturopathic and Chinese medicine as well as interns and observers from the National College of Natural Medicine and the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine may work and observe at An Hao clinic.

An Hao's pharmacy stocks the extensive formulary, with Seven Forests, White Tiger, and Pine Mountain brands associated with ITM, as well as granules (dried extracts for making personalized formulas), western herb tinctures, and numerous naturopathic supplements. The naturopathic practitioners are able to order medical tests, prescribe certain drugs, and give injections.

Our clinic is conveniently located just a few steps from the street car line that follows Northrup west, turning along 23rd Avenue (get off at 23rd and Lovejoy), and returning along Lovejoy going east and reached also by the #15 bus line (Belmont/NW 23rd). An Hao has a small private parking lot in the back, limited to patient parking while at the clinic for treatment, and there is some street parking in front of the clinic and in the blocks in each direction.  The clinic is in an area rich in medical services; the Good Samaritan Hospital is just a block away and there are a variety of private clinics offering modern medicine and natural health care close by.

The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.
